From bad to worse

Read Judges 21:25.

Have you ever been in a place in your life where things just seem to go from bad to worse? I think that sometimes, when I look at the world today. I wonder, “how much worse can it get?”

It was like that in the days of ancient Israel. Once the people stopped following the God who brought them out of Egypt, they not only faced battles with other nations, they eventually turned on each other. By the end of it all, one of the original twelve tribes, the tribe of Benjamin, was almost completely lost.

The situation was summed up in one sentence:

In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.

This was the total opposite of how they were supposed to be living. God was to be their leader, and his laws were to bring order to life. They rejected both.

Has your life gone from bad to worse? God is still here, waiting and ready to provide restoration and peace. He’s done that by sending Jesus Christ. Jesus not only brings us inner peace and hope for eternity; he also helps us to live at peace with our fellow man. In Christ, we are able to love God and love our neighbor.

He’s willing and able to change your life today. What do you say? If doing as you see fit doesn’t seem to be working, say yes to Jesus.
