This book is not for the faint of heart, but it is for the person who longs for more meat in their spiritual diet and something to challenge them in their faith. Though most of us have studied the parables of Christ, we have often neglected to go deep into the harder, conditional directives found in each of the four gospel records.
The what-if question at the beginning of each chapter becomes the knee-jerk reaction of Christ-followers who hear Jesus’s words but don’t take time to reflect on their meaning. Some of Christ’s statements can be hard to swallow or even seem harsh, but if read in the context of the conversation or passage, it becomes clear what he expects of those who choose to follow him, along with the grace he provides to do so. Carol invites the reader to join her in journeying through the words of our Lord to move from a life of doubt to one of obedience. With questions for reflection and action at the end of each short chapter, this book can be used for individual or group study.
