A Christmas Poem

I found this poem I wrote for a Christmas card from Tunisia in 1999:

No reason to celebrate, no need for a tree,
They walk in the darkness. Oh, that they could see…

A babe in the manger, a child, yet a king,
The man was our Savior, our reason to sing…

The cross and the grave; with joy, He faced all,
That we might have life, as in His name we call…

Save me, Lord; take me, to you only I turn,
For your gift is by grace, it’s nothing I earn…

Lord, put on our lips this good news of your Son,
That all of Tunisia by your grace be won.

Grace and Peace

*Note: I originally posted this poem in 2016. Replace the word “Tunisia” with the country or people you serve or simply with “the world,” and make this your prayer for the days ahead.
