Never Miss an Opportunity

Are you aware of the doors the Spirit opens for witness? If you remember the encounter between Jesus and a Samaritan woman, he used the jar she was filling with water as the connection to the living water he was offering.

We can do the same.

When caught in the inevitable traffic of Beirut’s roundabouts, my late husband, Raouf, would start talking to the person in the car sitting inches away. Windows would be rolled down, as drivers waited for the standstill jam to start moving.

“Do you think there will be traffic in heaven?” he’d ask with a smile on his face.

The smile would be returned, meaning the door was open for him to share the Good News of Christ in the brief moments he was allowed.

When a new believer was found busy at his work, Raouf and a friend said they would be back later and moved on to visit some of the neighbors. As they were going, they met a man selling bread off the back of a small motorcycle. They began talking with him about his work, and he told them he was used to driving for miles on his bike and knew all the roads.

“Do you know the road to heaven?” Raouf asked.

Again, the gospel was shared, and the man accepted Jesus as Savior. They returned to their original contact, but he was still busy with his work, so they returned home, knowing that the Lord had brought them out for the man selling bread instead.

How can you build bridges to the gospel with the people you meet? What doors can open while you get a haircut, stand in line at a store, or fill out paperwork at a government office? Who’s holding a water bottle, but missing out on the Living Water?

Ask the Lord to open your eyes to see the spiritual connections in each person’s life that will provide an opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus.

Grace and Peace

  1. You are so right, Carol. When I used to work as a flight attendant, our Lord had me running from the front of the airplane to the back witnessing to people, praying for them in flight. Now that I work from home, it’s different but still amazing. I so enjoy reading your stories. Thank you for sharing.
