Where it all makes sense

I am very appreciative for the ministry of Ravi Zacharias and his team. They are on the front lines for the Gospel in college campuses in this country and in so many places in this world. I see their work expressed in this word by Paul to the church in Corinth:

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

I was listening to Ravi on a podcast and was struck by something he said. Since I was driving, I couldn’t write it down, but I want to share my take on it.

He was talking about the power of the cross.

In the cross, we see the ultimate of display of evil in this world, as the life of an innocent man was so inhumanly murdered.

In the cross, we see the ultimate justice of God, as Christ paid the price for our sins through his death.

In the cross, we see the ultimate love of God, which led him to send his only begotten Son to die on our behalf.

In the cross, we see the ultimate forgiveness of God, as he accepted the sacrifice Christ made in our place, and forgives us when we put our faith in him.

It is at the cross that evil, justice, love and forgiveness intersect and find their meaning.

Without the evil, we would not have seen justice. Without the justice, we would not have experienced the love. Without the love, we would not have known forgiveness.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

The world may not understand this, but to those of us who are saved, the cross is the most beautiful reminder of God’s love and victory over evil. I thank him today for the cross. I pray you will too.

    1. I listen to him every Sunday night on our local Moody station, but do a lot of podcasting while I’m in the kitchen too. He makes my brain work, which I love.
