This is the Day…

This is the day I have been thinking of for the last 364 days…the day when we mark the first anniversary of Raouf’s heavenly departure.

This is the day when I remember what happened on November 25, 2015.

This is the day when I hug my sons and thank the Lord for having a small part of Raouf still in my life.

This is the day when I choose to still get up in the morning and read my Bible and hear God’s voice through the Psalm of the day: “I waited patiently for the Lord, and He turned to me and heard my cry for help. He brought me up from the desolate pit, out of the muddy clay, and set my feet on a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God…” (Psalm 40)

This is the day when I choose to go on living and loving and following my God.

Though my heart aches with the loss of the man who chose to allow me to walk with him through this life for 25 beautiful years, I must still wake up on even this day and say:

“This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Grace and Peace

  1. Carol, You remind each of your readers that regardless of what life has brought, we are to rise each day and rejoice because it is a gift from God, Himself, even as one may be grieving. Thank you for the reminder. May each of us desire to be used by our Savior and LORD for His kingdom purposes today and each day in the future! Thanking God for you and the encouragement you are to me.

  2. So beautiful, Carol. Your words are always so powerfully moving, as are so many of the memories of and tributes to Raouf. Thank you for including us on your journey through these earthly days without Raouf by your side.
